Pioneer Pass Pushers Set Camera Cavalcade Aug. 20

YUCCA VALLEY—Photographers and photographic enthusiasts are looking forward to the Pioneer Pass Camera Cavalcade, which has been set for Aug. 20 by the sponsors, the Pioneer Pass Pushers.

Groups from Big Bear Valley and the high desert will converge on the historic mining and cattle trail after meeting at the Moonridge Country Club in Big Bear at 9 a.m. They will first be briefed on the rules, fire regulations and other details of the competition.

Ribbon awards for winners will be given for both color and black and white in two divisions.

For the best pictures that catch the human interest of the Pioneer Pass Golf Challenge. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be made in Division I.

The second division will offer 1st, 2nd, and 3rd division awards for the best pictorial shot of the one-day event.

There are separate classifications for color and black and white.

Invitations have been extended to Marginia Ewing, Miss Yucca Valley; Charlotte Kissinger, Queen of the 1961 Turtle Races and the Snow Queen of Big Bear. Twenty-nine Palms has also been asked to send a representative. Georgene Bradshaw, “Miss Pioneer Pass’ is expected to attend.

The day of photography will follow Pioneer Pass down through Arrastre Creek, Rose Mine, Pioneer Pass Canyon, Monument View, Rimrock, and Pioneertown.
